Bumthang, Bhutan: 3-16th August
Bumthang is a sacred place of Padmasambhava, mentioned many times in his life story, Pema Kathang. Tharpaling Monastery was founded by the Great Longchen Rabjam. To the north of Tharpaling Monastery is a place where Padmasambhava meditated and a temple that contains the kudung of Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche, Phakchok Rinpoche’s root guru. There is a meditation cave of Guru Rinpoche, a meditation cave of Longchenpa, and a rock throne where Longchenpa wrote part of his masterpiece Seven Treasures.
