Registration: November 14, 2018
Seminar: November 15 – 21, 2018
Break Day: TBA
Retreat: November 23 – 25, 2018
Specifically designed for a Western audience, the seminar is held in the spacious main temple at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery in Boudhanath. Teachings are offered each morning for ten days by the monastery’s abbot, Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche. These talks are translated from Tibetan into English by a skilled interpreter. Depending on the availability of additional interpreters, simultaneous translations may also be made into German, Danish, French, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Chinese.
During the first half of the seminar, Rinpoche provides the audience with an introduction to the fundamental teachings of Buddhist practice and philosophy common to all Buddhist schools. During the latter half of the seminar, participants are guided through the more esoteric and profound perspectives, applications, and doctrines of both Mahayāna and Vajrayāna traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, including a clear explanation of the viewpoints of Madhyamaka, Mahāmudra, and Dzogchen.
Throughout the seminar, Rinpoche encourages questions and manages, even with large audiences, to engage listeners in lively personal dialogue. In this way, the listener is able to readily understand the very quintessence of the Buddha’s message.
Registration
Registration for the seminar will be possible from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the day preceding the seminar in the courtyard outside the old prayer hall at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept seminar or retreat registration prior to this date. Seating will be mostly on cushions on a carpeted floor, however, for those who do not wish to sit on the floor, chairs will be made available at the back of the temple hall.
