We invite you to this weekly community class held on campus each Sunday from 11 am – 1 pm. This course is made available on a donation basis.
While one might think of the preliminary practices of the Buddhist path — ngondro in Tibetan — as something we must accomplish to progress to the “next level,” the teachings they embody are in fact the very essence of this path, and thus are better termed “foundational.” From the “common outer preliminaries” of the four mind turnings to the “inner preliminaries” of taking refuge, cultivating bodhicitta, confessing, offering mandala, and engaging in guru yoga, the foundational practices as presented in this class are for all who are interested in, or even curious about, embarking upon this path either now or in future.
Samye is a place where students from all corners of the globe explore how to work with their minds in order to lead meaningful lives. Drawing from authentic Buddhist wisdom traditions, our online platform offers live teachings, structured courses, interactive forums, and community for the digital Dharma sangha. Samye Institute aims to be to the digital world what Nalanda was to India and what Samye was to Tibet.
